IAAF World Challenge of Wednesday, June 28 was well worthy of the Czech city logo’s three exclamation marks, prominent on the racing bibs of such stars as Usain Bolt, Wayde van Niekerk and Mo Farah – all supported by Human Tecar.
As the penultimate race in Bolt’s career before the World Championships in August, the Ostrava meeting was very emotional for both the athlete and the packed crowd, waving the colors of the Jamaican flag above ubiquitous “THANK YOU, USAIN!!!” signs all around the Mestsky Stadium. “The fastest man in the world” ran 100m in 10.06 seconds – far from a personal best, albeit still worth solid gold. Bolt assured fans he would be “making sure everything is smooth” by August 5: “I didn’t get injured, and that’s the key thing.” (Injury prevention, you will recall, is one of Human Tecar’s key goals…)
Another athlete that’s consistently supported by our MO, South Africa’s Wayde van Niekerk, in the meantime, has set the new world record in the 300 meters, not only beating Michael Johnson’s world best 17 years on (in 30.81 seconds), but dazzling spectators for the grace, elegance and power of his race. At the other end of the spectrum, long-distance runner and longtime Human Tecar friend Mo Farah ran 10,000 meters in 27:12:10, garnering the twenty-fifth international gold medal in his career.
