Switzerland's Lara Gut wins the women's alpine skiing World Cup title, placing third in the alpine combined in Lenzerheide.
There are four races left in the final week of championship but Gut built a lead of 355 points over Viktoria Regensburg and was the first Swiss female racer since Vreni Schneider 21 years ago to be crowned overall champion.
The Swiss skier has been racing in the World Championship since 2007, earning multiple podiums including three silver medals and a bronze medal at the World Championships, a bronze medal at the Olimpic Games and the World Cup Super-G Race in 2014.
Few days ago the athlete posted on social media the images of her training sessions. On twitter she wrote: “My dad gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me!” And in fact the top-level athlete did not disappoint the expectations, earning the world title and the name of “Snow Queen”.
Blonde- haired, blue-eyed, the beautiful and smart skier is incredibly determined and though aged just 24, she is a skiing prodigy. Lara Gut’s trainer Giorgio Rocca, stated: “She is a great talent. She always tries hard and put her heart into it, in life as well as in training. For this reason, she obtains the best results.”
